Near Perfect Season for the Delhi Capitals
The Delhi Capitals side played a fearless brand of cricket under the leadership of young captain, Shreyas Iyer. Successful former Australian Captain Ricky Pointing mentored this side, and it clearly showed in the team’s performance. They made it through to the finals at the back of some brilliant all-round cricket.
The young Delhi side finished second on the points table, thanks to their impressive performance throughout the Indian Premier League 2020 season. They had an impressive top-order that consisted of Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishab Pant. Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel provided their all-round services and a perfect balance to the side. The fierce South-African pace-duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje infused fear in the minds of the opposition batsmen. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled with great variations and controlled the innings beautifully in the middle overs. It was a sad end to the season, as Delhi lost the final to the Mumbai Indians side by 5 wickets.
Overall, it was a season worth remembering for the spirited Delhi side. Delhi’s fans will hope that they go one step further next year and bring the coveted IPL trophy home.
