Good Season for the Virat-lead Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore team played some great cricket in the Indian Premier League 2020 season. Bangalore’s bowling has always been a big concern; this time, there was much improvement in their bowling attack. The inclusion of South-African all-rounder Chris Morris provided the much-required balance to the side.
At the top of the innings, RCB found a gem in the form of young Indian Devdutt Padikkal. He was consistent throughout the season and showed why he is regarded as one of the country’s fine young players. Finch was not consistent at the top. For Virat, it was a hot and cold season, and for ABD, it was a decent season. RCB could not find a balanced middle-order, the main reason why they could not win the IPL 2020 trophy.
RCB’s bowling was mostly reliant on their wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and pacer Chris Morris. Apart from these two, other bowlers seemed clueless at times. RCB had a great first half but started losing games thereafter. They made it to the playoffs even after losing their last four league matches. The in-form Hyderabad team crushed Bangalore’s dream of winning the IPL title in the eliminator.
RCB has some weak links to address; doing so will give them a great chance of winning the coveted IPL trophy next year.
Top Batsmen Royal Challengers Bangalore 2020
- Devdutt Padikkal:
The young and stylish batsman Devdutt Padikkal caught everyone’s eye with his strokes. He was brilliant throughout the season and ended up being the highest run-getter for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Padikkal scored 473 runs in the IPL 2020 season and was adjudged the emerging player of the season. The talented southpaw will look to continue his good form and win more matches for RCB in the upcoming IPL season.
- Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli didn’t have a great start to the season. He failed miserably in the first three games. But it was against CSK that Virat found back his magical touch. From thereon, he carried the burden of the team on his shoulders. Virat played some exceptional cricket and ended the season with 466 runs.
- AB de Villiers:
Call him a freak or superman; he is undoubtedly the most gifted batsman in the world. ABD showed his class and pulled off incredible performances in the IPL 2020 season. He scored 454 runs with an impressive strike rate of 158.7. When his team really needed him, ABD brought his A-game to the table. RCB fans will hope that ABD performs more like this in the upcoming season of the IPL.
Top Bowlers Royal Challengers Bangalore 2020
- Yuzvendra Chahal:
This wily leg-spinner spun his web around the opposition batsmen. Chahal was expected to be RCB’s best bowler, and he didn’t disappoint. He tossed the bowl up and lured the opposition batsmen into making mistakes. The result of this skilful bowling was that he ended up picking 21 wickets. His control in the middle overs was exceptional, which brought RCB back into the contest on many occasions.
- Chris Morris:
This South-African all-rounder was great with the ball. Not only did he bowl well in the powerplay, but he was also instrumental in closing the innings out. In the 9 matches that he played this season, he managed to pick up 11 wickets. He was the leader of the bowling group and lived up to the expectations of his captain.
- Mohammed Siraj:
Siraj had a decent IPL 2020 season where he managed to pick 11 wickets. In some games, he was brilliant, while in others, he looked out of place. When there was swing on offer, Siraj blew opposition batting. Siraj will look to be more consistent in the next season and hopefully win the IPL trophy with his RCB team.
